Just a funny story or two...

Well for those of you who have missed my blog posts, I thought I would post a couple little stories about what has been going on.

My mom went home last night but before she left we had lunch at Peter Piper Pizza. Hunter was super excited to play the games of course. Since he is so young he usually only wins around 10-15 tickets each visit. I usually let him spend $2.00 of his own money on the games. Last time we went he decided to use 4 tokens (that's $1.00!) on one 'spin the wheel' type game. I tried to stop him but he already had coins in the machine. He spun the wheel and won 25 tickets! He was so excited because that is more than he usually gets. So this time he wanted to play the game again even though it was half of the tokens he had to spend. So he put them in, spun the wheel, and he hit 50 tickets! He was thrilled! My mom watched him hit the 50 tickets and decided to go get some more coins and try it again so he could have even more tickets, he was SO EXCITED! So mom put the coins in, spun the wheel, and..... they thought she hit the 100 ticket jackpot! They were jumping up and down so excited! Then, they looked down and only 4 tickets had come out. Both of them turned around to me at the same time with this sheer look of horror on their faces. Why didn't it give them 100 tickets?!?!?!?! I had to explain that on the '100' ticket block the arrow has to land right in the middle of the block, otherwise you only get 4 tickets. Needless to say they were so disappointed, but I will never forget the look on their faces when they turned around! I was crying, I was laughing so hard! Oh, and I snapped a picture too. I knew it was probably going to be a picture of pure excitement or horrible disappointment so I grabbed my camera right before they spun the wheel.

Here they are getting ready to spin the wheel.

Here is their reaction to only getting 4 tickets. If you look at the wheel, you can see the thin purple line the arrow has to land on. It's actually pretty cruel how they do this because you really think you won at first glance.

And just a little bragging on my 4 year old son about to start preschool for the first time this fall. Last night he wanted to text his Uncle 'Meme'. This is nothing new, he likes to call and text family members. But usually when he texts them he just pushes a whole bunch of letters and presses send. Last night when I looked at what he had sent it was only 8 letters. I asked him what he wrote to his uncle and he said he wrote "cat you are cat" and laughed, because things like that are funny to him at this age. Then I looked at my phone and he was right, that was exactly what he wrote, this is what it looked like... 'katurkat'. I was really impressed and then explained to him spacing and that 'c' and 'k' make the same sound. But, he is definitely already picking up the idea of phonics and knows his sounds even before starting school! I know he will do well this year. Even while typing this blog he pointed out the word 'stop' in it and told me it said 'stop'. He is pretty smart!!!
